New fire-resistant grille successfully tested in accordance with the European Standard EN 1364-5.
We at FireStopSystems International BV are pleased to announce that our fire-resistant ventilation grilles of types FBS-50 and FBU-40 have been successfully tested in accordance with the new European Standard EN 1364-5. This standard was published at the end of 2017, and is specifically for fire-resistant grilles. Previously, there was no testing standard for these products. Usually, other standards were used for this, such as the standard for non-load-bearing partition walls (EN 1364-1) or doors (EN 1634-1).
On 27 June 2018, the official fire test took place in the Efectis Nederland laboratory. This test was carried out on multiple grilles, fitted with or without an inside or outside air grille measuring up to as much as 1,200 x 2,400 mm!
The fire resistance of the grilles varies from EW-60 to EI-120.
Basically, the fire-resistant grille element of type FBS-50 is the same as the familiar LVH50 fire-resistant grille. This also applies to type FBU-40, which is basically the same as type FBU 240.
In order to be able to comply with the new EN 1364-5 standard (also in large sizes), we have specially developed a complete system, including fire-resistant band and strips and steel mounting brackets. The complete system has been tested and certified as such. We therefore supply these materials as standard when you order this type of fire-resistant grille from us.
